COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA International Tourism Management course at the Edge Hotel School provides a comprehensive foundation in tourism, hospitality, and events management, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills to prepare students for careers in the global tourism sector. In the first year, students study the fundamentals of tourism, finance for tourism businesses, the tourism business environment, tourism operations, conferences and events, and delivering hospitality operations and customer experiences. This gives a strong grounding in both operational and strategic aspects of the industry. In the second year, the focus shifts to specialised areas including special interest tourism, management and leadership, sustainability in events and hospitality, digital marketing and revenue management, continual professional development, visitor attraction management, and contemporary issues in the international tourism and hospitality industry. These modules develop students’ analytical, managerial, and problem-solving skills while exploring current trends and challenges in the sector. The third year emphasises practical application and advanced learning, with compulsory modules in dissertation research, consultancy projects, innovation and entrepreneurship, human resource management, business strategy for hospitality and events, and management in international tourism and hospitality. By combining academic study with real-world projects and professional development, the course equips students with the expertise and experience necessary to succeed in a wide range of tourism, hospitality, and events management roles both in the UK and internationally.
