COURSE CURRICULUM

This course provides a comprehensive study of international relations and politics across three years, equipping students with theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and analytical expertise. In the first year, students gain a foundation in international relations and politics through modules such as Introduction to International Relations, Contemporary Topics in International Relations, and Introduction to Politics, while also developing research and critical thinking skills in Thinking Like a Social Scientist. Optional modules allow students to explore additional areas of interest, and a Career Portfolio supports professional development. In the second year, the focus expands to advanced concepts in international relations, including Theories and Approaches, Conflict Analysis, and Violent Non-State Actors, offering in-depth insight into political violence, crime, and global conflicts. Students continue to select optional modules to tailor their learning and further develop their expertise. In the final year, the Capstone Project provides an opportunity to undertake an independent research project, integrating knowledge from previous years and applying analytical and problem-solving skills to real-world issues. Additional politics modules or outside options allow students to specialise according to their interests. Throughout the course, the Career Portfolio encourages reflection on employability, professional skills, and preparation for future careers. Graduates develop a strong understanding of global political systems, conflict dynamics, and international cooperation, preparing them for roles in diplomacy, policy, research, and related fields.
