COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Global Studies with Latin American Studies degree is designed to give students a strong interdisciplinary grounding while focusing on the history, politics, and culture of Latin America within a global context. In the first year, students are introduced to core concepts through modules in interdisciplinary research, ways of knowing, democracy in Europe and the United States, and U.S. sociology, alongside an option in international relations or global history. Additional optional modules provide flexibility to explore related areas of interest. The second year develops this foundation further with The World in Question, a module that explores the legacies of the Enlightenment, and America and the World, which examines global interconnections. Students also study social entrepreneurship, sustainability, and community action, with further options in sociology, art history, politics, computing, or other global studies subjects. In the final year, the focus shifts to applying interdisciplinary perspectives to contemporary global challenges, with compulsory modules on water conflicts, human rights, and business and social justice in Latin America. A wide range of optional modules allows for further specialisation, including advanced studies in computing or international topics. This flexible yet structured program equips students with the critical knowledge and skills to address pressing regional and global issues.
