COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Global Studies with Human Rights course provides a progressive structure that combines core study in human rights with interdisciplinary learning and flexible options. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules on the principles of human rights, interdisciplinary research, and different ways of knowing, alongside the opportunity to explore global history or language options. A skills-based component also supports personal and academic development. The second year deepens knowledge with compulsory modules on regional human rights systems and global challenges, as well as an exploration of the Enlightenment and its legacies across society, culture, politics, and the environment. Students also engage with practical issues through a module on social entrepreneurship, sustainability, and community action, while optional modules allow for further study in international topics, computing, or languages. In the final year, students focus on advanced study of selected issues in human rights and examine global challenges from an interdisciplinary perspective, with a particular case study on water conflicts and cultural approaches to resources. Alongside these, a wide choice of optional international or language modules enables students to tailor the course to their own interests, preparing them to address global and human rights issues critically and effectively.
