COURSE CURRICULUM

This joint Film and Drama course provides a comprehensive mix of practical, creative, and theoretical study across stage and screen, preparing students for careers in the creative industries or further academic work. In the first year, students explore foundational subjects such as Approaches to Film and Media and Introduction to Theatre Studies, alongside practical ensemble projects and optional modules that allow further engagement with film or related humanities subjects. Year two builds on these skills with modules in Tragedy and Theatre Writing, Performing Gender and Identity, and Directing Actors for Film, enabling students to integrate creative practice with critical analysis. Students also develop technical competencies in acting, directing, and production, while having the flexibility to choose film or theatre options tailored to their interests. The final year emphasizes independent and integrated learning through a Capstone Project, alongside optional modules in film, theatre, or other interdisciplinary studies, allowing students to consolidate and showcase their skills. Throughout the course, assessments combine essays, creative projects, performance work, and technical production tasks, ensuring a balance of practical and academic experience. High-quality facilities, including rehearsal and production spaces, support hands-on learning, while careers guidance and employability training prepare students for a wide range of professional opportunities in the arts, media, and creative sectors.
