COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Creative Producing (Theatre and Short Film) course is structured over three years, offering a progressive mix of creative, technical, and managerial training. In the first year, students build essential foundations across a range of disciplines, studying core modules such as Playwriting, Producing Skills, Filmmaking and Editing, Context, The Craft of Drama, Technical Theatre, and Graphic and Web Design. This combination introduces the key elements of theatre and film production while also developing technical and digital skills. The second year deepens this knowledge with larger-scale projects and more advanced learning, focusing on Creating Film, Producing and Managing 2, Digital Media 2, and Skills 2, each worth 30 credits. These modules encourage students to integrate practical experience with professional and organisational knowledge, preparing them for more complex creative challenges. The final year allows for greater independence and specialisation, with three project-based modules chosen from a range of options, each worth 30 credits, enabling students to tailor their training to their own career aspirations. Alongside these, a compulsory 30-credit dissertation provides the chance to engage in sustained independent research or practice-based inquiry. This course structure ensures a balance of creativity, technical ability, and professional skills, equipping graduates for success in the creative industries.
