COURSE CURRICULUM

This teacher training program is designed to build deep subject knowledge, foster reflective and research-informed practice, and prepare trainees to support pupil progress effectively in real classroom settings. The Developing Subject Expertise and Subject Specialism module focuses on identifying and addressing specific areas for growth within a chosen subject. Reflection is a key component, encouraging continuous improvement in subject delivery. School-Based Learning: Reflections on Practice offers the first practical teaching experience in a secondary school, where trainees apply their academic learning in a supported environment. Guided by experienced mentors, they engage with curriculum initiatives and best practices, working towards meeting the standards for Qualified Teacher Status while developing the ability to support pupils’ learning and development effectively. The Research Informed Practice module strengthens the link between theory and classroom application by helping trainees critically evaluate educational research and integrate evidence-based strategies into their teaching. Securing Pupil Progress focuses on understanding how to assess, track, and support student development. It emphasizes the importance of differentiated instruction and data-informed interventions to promote individual progress. Active Inquiry and Intervention: Impacting Upon Student Progress brings together the principles of reflective practice and research by guiding trainees to design and implement a classroom intervention based on educational theory and evidence. They evaluate the outcomes and refine their practice accordingly. Together, these modules create a well-rounded program that equips future teachers with the knowledge, experience, and critical thinking skills needed to create positive learning environments and drive meaningful pupil progress.
