COURSE CURRICULUM

This teacher training program is designed to equip future educators with the essential knowledge, skills, and experience required to succeed in the classroom and drive meaningful student progress. The Developing Subject Expertise and Subject Specialism module supports trainees in identifying and addressing areas for growth within their subject. Trainees are encouraged to enhance their subject knowledge, understand the role of pedagogy in learning, and implement appropriate teaching strategies. By evaluating various pedagogical models and applying them to their specific context, they develop a targeted approach to teaching, while ongoing reflection ensures continuous improvement. The School-Based Learning: Reflections on Practice module provides practical teaching experience in a secondary school setting. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, trainees apply their academic learning, engage with curriculum initiatives, and work towards meeting the Teachers’ Standards for Qualified Teacher Status. This experience helps them to effectively support children’s learning and development. The Research Informed Practice module ensures that trainees understand how educational theory and evidence underpin effective teaching. It encourages the application of current research to inform classroom decisions and improve practice. The Securing Pupil Progress module focuses on understanding how to track, assess, and promote student learning. It equips trainees with strategies to monitor individual progress and implement tailored interventions to meet diverse learner needs. The Active Inquiry and Intervention: Impacting Upon Student Progress module integrates research, reflection, and classroom practice. Trainees design and implement an intervention based on evidence and theory, then critically evaluate its impact on student outcomes. Overall, the program develops skilled, reflective, and research-informed educators who are prepared to meet the complex demands of teaching.
