COURSE CURRICULUM

The Intelligent Transport Planning and Engineering MSc in Year 1 is designed to develop both advanced technical competence and practical, real-world understanding of modern transport engineering. The program equips students with the skills needed to design and manage key infrastructure such as highways, railways, and foundations, while also promoting environmentally responsible and sustainable construction practices. Core modules include Mental Wealth: Professional Life (Engineering Management), which develops professional, leadership, and project management skills essential for engineering careers, and Soil Structure Engineering, which provides a strong foundation in ground behaviour and structural design. Environmental Sustainable Engineering and Logistics focuses on sustainable transport solutions and resource-efficient systems, while Highway and Railway Engineering explores the planning, design, and operation of major transport networks. Intelligent Transport Systems introduces the use of digital technologies, data, and smart systems to improve transport efficiency, safety, and integration. Applied Research and Engineering Practice 1 strengthens research, analytical, and problem-solving skills through applied engineering projects. Students may also undertake an optional Industrial Sandwich Placement, gaining valuable industry experience and applying academic knowledge in a professional setting. Together, these modules prepare graduates to address complex challenges in transport planning, engineering, and construction, and to progress confidently into industry roles within the transport and infrastructure sectors.
