COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Big Data Technologies at UEL is structured to provide a comprehensive education combining theoretical understanding with practical, hands-on experience in the field of data analytics, cloud computing, and big data management. The program is built around four core modules: Big Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, Machine Learning on Big Data, and the Professional Life Dissertation project, all of which equip students with the skills to design, implement, and manage large-scale data systems. Big Data Analytics focuses on extracting insights and patterns from complex datasets, while Cloud Computing provides expertise in scalable infrastructure and distributed data processing. Machine Learning on Big Data develops advanced skills in predictive modelling and algorithm development for real-world applications. The Professional Life Dissertation project allows students to apply their knowledge to a practical research or work-based scenario, enhancing problem-solving, project management, and professional competencies. Optional modules, such as Security Management and IT & Internet Law, provide additional specialisation, equipping students to address cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and legal considerations in data management. Throughout the program, students gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and platforms, preparing them for high-demand roles in data engineering, business intelligence, analytics, and data science.
