COURSE CURRICULUM

This course in Engineering Management combines technical depth with a strong emphasis on professional development and practical application. The Mental Wealth: Professional Life module focuses on enhancing the role of the engineer or construction manager within industry and society. It explores how technological advancements influence production processes and management strategies, while also covering critical areas such as numerical analysis, financial control, and contract management—skills that are vital for leadership in engineering projects. The technical core of the program is built through modules such as Soil Structure Engineering, which introduces geotechnical principles related to deep foundations and earth-retaining structures. This is further developed in Design in Steel and Concrete, where students engage with modern design practices and the rationale behind national codes and standards. This module is essential for understanding how infrastructure is planned and built in compliance with current safety and efficiency requirements. In Advanced Structural Analysis, students enhance their ability to model and evaluate structures using contemporary software tools. The practical, hands-on approach builds engineering judgement, which is crucial for devising reliable and efficient design strategies. Structural Dynamics and Stability deepens this expertise by focusing on the complex behaviours of structures under dynamic loads, such as wind or earthquakes, and by teaching critical evaluation of stability and dynamic performance. Applied Research and Engineering Practice 1 brings together the theoretical and practical aspects of the course. Students select a research topic relevant to their area of study, apply appropriate methodologies, and critically analyse the results to produce a dissertation. This project sharpens their ability to approach engineering challenges methodically, think independently, and contribute innovative solutions.
