COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Public Health is a comprehensive and multidisciplinary program designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to address health challenges at local, national, and global levels. It offers a critical and applied understanding of public health theory, policy, research, and practice. The course begins with a strong foundation in Public Health Theory and Policy, providing insight into the social determinants of health, the policy-making process, and how public health programs are developed and evaluated. This module sets the stage for understanding the broader public health system and its intersection with governance, equity, and service delivery.Students explore key methodological approaches through the Principles and Methods of Epidemiology and Research Methods in Public Health modules. These modules introduce both qualitative and quantitative research techniques, epidemiological study design, data analysis, and systematic reviews, preparing students to interpret and conduct research that informs evidence-based policy and intervention. The Behaviour Change and Health Promotion module further deepens understanding by applying health behaviour theories to real-world health promotion strategies across the life course.Global Health and Health Economics expand students’ perspectives to international and financial dimensions of public health. Global Health explores the impact of globalisation, development, and human rights on health outcomes, while Health Economics examines how economic evaluation tools and resource allocation strategies can support effective public health interventions. Students also engage with legal and ethical considerations in the Public Health Ethics and Law module, fostering critical reflection on contemporary moral dilemmas and legal frameworks.Leadership in Public Health (Mental Wealth) helps students develop leadership competencies including emotional intelligence, collaboration, and self-awareness, empowering them to influence change in complex systems. The program culminates in the Public Health Project, an independent research project where students investigate a topic of personal or professional interest, demonstrating their capacity to contribute meaningfully to the field. Overall, the MSc in Public Health prepares graduates to take on diverse roles in health policy, research, advocacy, and frontline public health practice.
