COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Engineering Management is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of both engineering principles and the management practices essential for leadership roles in modern engineering and construction industries. The program integrates core technical knowledge with managerial expertise, allowing graduates to bridge the gap between engineering innovation and strategic business operations. A key component of the course is the Mental Wealth: Professional Life module, which explores the evolving role of engineers and construction managers in industry and society. Students critically assess the impact of new technologies on production and learn the essential management skills, contract procedures, and financial controls necessary for professional success.The program takes a forward-looking approach to sustainability and digital transformation. In the Environmental Sustainable Engineering & Logistics module, students examine the construction industry's environmental responsibilities and learn how sustainable development principles can be applied across the lifecycle of construction projects. This includes a focus on sustainable design, operations, and regulatory compliance, along with health and safety management within the built environment. The Procurement & Digital Technology module, subject to validation, is expected to address how digital advancements are reshaping procurement processes and supply chain management, providing tools for greater efficiency and accountability in project execution.Students also engage with high-level business strategy and operational management in the Managing Strategy, Operations and Partnerships module. This equips them to develop strategic insights, understand operational systems, and build effective partnerships, all of which are crucial for senior roles in engineering management. The program culminates in the Research Skills and Dissertation module, where students undertake a substantial independent research project. This final component enables them to demonstrate their mastery of research methodologies, critical thinking, and effective communication, culminating in a dissertation that showcases their ability to tackle complex engineering management challenges with academic rigour and professional competence.
