COURSE CURRICULUM

The Professional Sound and Music course offers an immersive and interdisciplinary platform for creative development and applied research, with options to pursue either an MA or an MFA. The MFA includes an additional year, providing students with more time to deepen their engagement with professional practices and complex projects. The program is designed for those with a passion for sound and music, enabling them to specialise in areas such as sound design, music production, performance, or sound for media, games, and theatre. It supports both creative exploration and technical excellence, blending theoretical insight with real-world application.The course includes modules that foster collaborative learning across disciplines. Interdisciplinary Intersections encourages students to engage with professionals from diverse fields including film, architecture, animation, and performance, building a methodological foundation for interdisciplinary practice. Advanced Sound Design and Production and Advanced Music Performance, Composition and Production strengthen students' technical capabilities while allowing them to work on sophisticated creative outputs. Additional modules like Creative Technologies and Creative Project Design (subject to validation) aim to expand students' ability to design, implement, and manage innovative creative projects.Key research-oriented modules also form an integral part of the curriculum. Research Praxis focuses on developing a deep understanding of applied research methodologies, enabling students to propose, implement, and evaluate projects with measurable impact. It also highlights the role of distributed expertise and organisational culture in shaping learning design and innovation. Meta-Praxis supports students in leading live applied projects within their professional contexts, integrating reflexive practice and transversal skill development. Students document and evaluate these experiences in an interactive portfolio, presenting real-world outcomes alongside personal and professional growth.The course concludes with a major Dissertation or Final Project, through which students demonstrate independence, originality, and professionalism. Graduates emerge ready for roles in creative industries, research, or education, equipped with both specialist expertise and collaborative competence.
