The core modules in this theatre and film studies program provide a comprehensive foundation, integrating both traditional practices and contemporary perspectives. "The Director and the Text" focuses on essential directorial techniques, exploring the work of influential figures like Stanislavsky and Meisner within the framework of postdramatic theatre. It examines the evolving role of the director in today’s theatre while promoting inclusivity by challenging conventional, Eurocentric forms of performance. The module encourages students to share their diverse experiences, fostering an environment that prioritizes safety and mental well-being. "Narrative Cinema" shifts the focus to film production, offering hands-on experience in creating short narrative films. Students learn key elements such as directing actors, managing production crews, and navigating post-production, while exploring narrative styles in both mainstream and independent cinema from global cinematic traditions. The "Performance Platform" module provides students with a space to synthesize and apply their learning through a self-initiated project, emphasizing research methodology, project management, and critical reflection. This module challenges students to produce work that is creatively and technically refined, informed by both academic and practical development throughout the course.For those progressing to the MFA year, the "Professional Platform" module supports students in developing their professional careers. This includes supervised industry projects or placements related to creative practice, typically involving a collaboration with university staff and external industry professionals. Students also create a professional portfolio to prepare for public exhibitions or industry internships. The "Creative Practice" module offers MFA students the opportunity to develop their own, discipline-specific creative projects. This independent, student-driven module allows students to produce professional-standard work in a rigorous intellectual environment, helping them achieve high standards in their creative practice and preparing them for successful careers as creative practitioners. Together, these modules provide the necessary tools and experiences to excel in the fields of theatre and film.
