COURSE CURRICULUM

The Forced Migration in the Global Era program provides a deep and critical understanding of the complexities surrounding forced migration and refugee experiences in today’s global context. The core module on Forced Migration examines the socio-political processes that define and categorize people on the move, such as refugees, asylum seekers, and irregular migrants. It explores contemporary global issues, including human rights, securitization of migration, prolonged displacement, and the politics of identity, inclusion, and exclusion in host societies. Through this module, students develop a critical perspective on the challenges faced by marginalized and vulnerable populations and gain the knowledge and analytical skills necessary for assessing these issues with depth and sensitivity. The Research Methods for Social Science module builds on this foundation by equipping students with the tools to conduct meaningful, evidence-based research. It focuses on the application of research methods to inform policy-making, thereby enhancing students’ practical skills and employability. The final component, the Independent Applied Research Project, allows students to apply their accumulated knowledge and skills in a focused and original research endeavor. This module supports students through the stages of planning, executing, and evaluating a research project, emphasizing independent work, self-management, and the effective use of research methods. Together, these modules form a coherent and integrated program that prepares students for careers in policy, advocacy, humanitarian work, and social research. It fosters both academic development and practical capability, enabling graduates to engage meaningfully with complex global issues and contribute to the better understanding and support of displaced and marginalized communities.
