The program includes a series of core modules designed to support the development of personal and professional creative practice in contemporary art.The Developing Independent Practice module allows you to build your personal studio practice with the support of tutorials and seminars. This module offers a broad range of media workshops, where you can explore various artistic techniques and processes, including wood, metal, print, film, video, and digital media. The workshops are staffed by technical demonstrators who provide guidance and support in the development of your individual creative process.The Research and Practice Methods module introduces the central concepts and theoretical debates surrounding contemporary art practice. This module provides essential context for your personal creative studio practice by exploring key topics such as postmodernism, the expanded field of art, drawing, photography, exhibition politics, and socially engaged art. Through lectures and seminars, you will engage with theories related to gender, ethnicity, authorship, politics, and psychoanalysis, which will enhance your understanding of the broader discourse in contemporary art.The Interim Exhibition module enables you to continue developing your advanced independent work and present it in a professional exhibition setting. You will explore different models of artistic practice and engage in debates surrounding current professional practices in the art world. This experience will help you refine your work and gain insight into the exhibition process.The Professional Life (Mental Wealth) module focuses on enhancing your professional skills, though the specific details are yet to be confirmed.Finally, the Realisation of Practice and MA Exhibition module is the culmination of your creative development. You will create a cohesive body of independent work for the MA exhibition, demonstrating a mature level of analytical understanding and verbal articulation of your practice. This module also involves critical engagement in all aspects of the exhibition process, including curation, installation, presentation, documentation, and promotion. Additionally, you will contribute to the creation of a group online presence to promote the work of the year group.
