COURSE CURRICULUM

The program offers key core modules to build practical and academic skills for students pursuing a career in film production. The Narrative Cinema module is designed to develop skills for producing a short narrative film. It covers the essential aspects of film production, such as production planning, directing actors, and managing crew dynamics. Additionally, students will gain a range of post-production skills. The module also places these practical skills within the context of both dominant and independent cinema cultures, giving students a broad understanding of the diverse approaches to narrative filmmaking across world cinemas.The Professional Practice and Research Methods module provides students with the necessary academic and professional competencies for success at the postgraduate level. It prepares students to undertake a self-initiated final project by introducing key research design principles and methodological approaches in media, communication, and filmmaking. Students will learn to plan, develop, and complete an independent research or practice-based project, guided by subject-specialist supervision. The module emphasizes drafting and revision while encouraging a thorough understanding of study methods and conceptual formulation.Finally, the Final Project module offers the opportunity for students to consolidate their knowledge and skills developed throughout the program. Whether students opt for a written research project or a film/media production project, this module supports them in executing independent and original work. Supervision, group sessions, and technical support are provided to ensure the successful completion of the project, allowing students to apply their learning to produce a Masters-level piece of work.
