COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA in Architecture and Urbanism includes a series of core modules designed to develop advanced design, theoretical insight, and professional skills. The Design 1 module introduces advanced design and fabrication techniques through a project-based portfolio, establishing a foundation for research-led design practice. Students are encouraged to explore creative processes influenced by current technological innovations and design agendas specific to the program. In the second semester, Design 2 builds on this foundation by guiding students through the development of comprehensive proposals that integrate multidisciplinary approaches and digital tools. The Mental Wealth module supports personal and professional growth by encouraging students to engage with complex spatial and contextual challenges while developing emotional, social, and cognitive intelligence in a collaborative studio environment. Theory and Processes 1 and 2 explore key issues in architectural theory and the cultural context of the built environment, helping students to critically reflect on the relationship between design and contemporary social and environmental themes. The Applied Project module acts as the final thesis, allowing students to conduct in-depth research on a topic of personal and professional relevance. This module emphasizes independent thinking and critical communication, resulting in a final design-based project that demonstrates originality and contributes to the fields of computational design, robotic fabrication, or urban design. The program prepares graduates with a specialised knowledge base and skillset aligned with current and emerging trends in architecture and urbanism.
