COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLM program in International Law is composed of three core modules that provide a comprehensive blend of academic, practical, and professional development. The International Law: Problems and Process (Mental Wealth) module lays the groundwork by introducing students to major debates in public and private international law while developing key research skills necessary for postgraduate legal study. It also includes workshops that address employability, mental wealth, and essential legal competencies to support students’ academic and career progression. The Advocacy, Interventions and Practice module focuses on the practical application of international law, examining how advocacy and legal interventions function in real-world settings. It introduces students to courtroom procedures, advocacy techniques, and the role of legal professionals in promoting human rights, development, and the rule of law globally. The Applied Project serves as the capstone of the program, giving students the opportunity to conduct independent research in an area of their choice, guided by methodologies and theories covered in the taught modules. This final project demands critical analysis, academic rigor, and the ability to produce original legal insight. In addition to these core components, students have the option to undertake a placement year, providing hands-on experience within a legal or policy-focused organization. This placement bridges the gap between academic learning and industry practice, enhancing professional readiness and expanding career opportunities.
