COURSE CURRICULUM

The core modules of the LLM program at the University of East London are designed to equip students with a strong foundation in international law, practical skills, and real-world experience. The module "International Law: Problems and Process (Mental Wealth)" introduces students to key debates in public and private international law while building essential research and analytical skills. It provides a critical understanding of international legal systems and covers a wide range of topical issues. These workshops are designed to help students transition smoothly into postgraduate study and enhance their readiness for the legal profession.The "Applied Project" module offers students the opportunity to undertake a dissertation based on independent research. It allows students to select their own area of interest within international law, applying the theories and skills gained throughout their coursework to a focused academic enquiry. This module helps students to further develop their research methodology, legal writing, and critical thinking, culminating in a substantial written project that demonstrates their expertise and understanding of the subject.Additionally, the LLM program offers an optional placement year, giving students the chance to gain practical experience in a professional legal setting. This placement connects academic learning with industry practice, enhancing employability and providing insights into the workings of legal institutions. Students interested in the placement must opt in at the time of application, and the university supports them in securing a suitable position.
