COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB (Hons) Law degree provides a structured path through the academic and practical elements of legal education. From the first year, students are introduced to essential legal concepts through compulsory modules such as English Legal System, Legal Skills, and Contract Law. These modules help to build a foundation in legal reasoning, analysis, and writing. Students explore areas such as land law and public law, where they examine relationships between individuals and property and the functioning of government and constitutional law. The Mental Wealth module supports personal development by helping students adjust to legal study and begin building professional competencies.In the second year, the focus shifts to more complex legal subjects. Modules such as Criminal Law and Tort Law explore liability and civil wrongs, equipping students with practical legal knowledge and case analysis skills. Equity and Trusts introduces foundational principles of fairness in legal contexts, while EU Law expands the student's understanding of transnational legal systems and their impact on domestic law. The Mental Wealth module continues to build professional awareness and skills relevant to legal practice.The final year offers students a mix of compulsory and optional modules. While students must complete Mental Wealth: Professional Standards and Ethics, they can tailor the rest of their studies based on career goals. Options include Intellectual Property Law, Commercial Law, Family Law, and Litigation-focused modules that may lead to a Higher Diploma in Paralegal Practice. Students gain valuable practical experience by participating in the university’s Legal Advice Centre and through placements in local law firms. This combination of academic study, ethical training, and real-world application ensures graduates are well-prepared for legal careers or further professional training as solicitors or barristers.
