COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB (Hons) Law with International Relations degree offers a rich and integrated curriculum that provides students with a solid foundation in legal knowledge alongside a deep understanding of international politics. Throughout the first two years, students develop their legal expertise by studying core modules such as the English Legal System, Contract Law, Public Law, Tort Law, and Land Law, while also exploring essential political concepts through International Relations and modules like Global Governance and Great Power Politics. The course’s unique structure combines the practical study of law—focusing on institutions, legal processes, and statutory interpretation—with theoretical and applied perspectives on international affairs, such as the role of global powers and international organisations like the United Nations. In the final year, students tackle complex subjects including Criminal Law, European Union Law, and Human Rights and Equality, alongside political modules such as African Politics and Development and Gender, Power and Politics, which equip them with both regional and thematic insights into global issues. The course also supports employability and personal development through the “Mental Wealth” modules, which focus on developing psychosocial and professional skills such as leadership, self-awareness, and research. Students have the opportunity to carry out independent research through a Law Project, contributing to their academic growth and critical thinking. The degree’s interdisciplinary nature ensures that graduates not only have a strong grasp of legal principles but also understand the broader international contexts in which these laws operate.
