The foundation year of the Medical Physiology BSc (Hons) program provides essential academic and professional skills for those interested in pursuing careers in healthcare and biosciences, including physiotherapy, podiatry, and nursing. It is ideal for students who lack the necessary subjects for direct entry into degree courses. This shared year across health and bioscience courses introduces students to core modules that prepare them for more specialized study in later years.One key module, "Essential Skills for Higher Education," focuses on developing academic reading and writing skills, critical thinking, and teamwork. Students engage in group activities and presentations, which help improve their communication and social awareness. The "Essential Maths & ICT" module ensures students gain foundational knowledge in maths, statistics, and IT, equipping them with the practical skills needed for academic and professional success. "Career & Professional Skills" also plays a critical role in enhancing employability, guiding students in exploring career options and using digital platforms like LinkedIn to network and reflect on their career progression.Students will also take foundational modules in biology and chemistry, including "Human Biology," where they study anatomical structures and the physiological principles behind body functions, and "Introduction to the Study of Cells," which provides insight into cellular biology and biochemistry.
