The BSc Human Resource Management degree is structured to equip you with the essential academic and practical skills needed for a successful career in HR. The foundation year introduces you to key concepts through modules like Mental Wealth: Employability in a Changing World, which focuses on adapting to dynamic job markets, and Developing Academic Skills for Business, which supports the transition to university-level study. You also gain foundational knowledge through modules such as Inside Business and The Global Business Enterprise, which provide insights into how businesses operate in a global context, and you’ll apply this understanding through real-world experience in the volunteering module. In your first year, the course deepens your understanding of both business and HR principles. You will explore economics, marketing, accounting, and data analysis, while also learning about human behaviour in organisations and the basics of people management. This integrated approach connects HR to broader business functions and shows how effective people management drives organisational success. The second year takes a more practical turn with modules on coordinating the HR function, talent management, reward systems, and employment law. You can also choose optional modules like International HRM or undertake a work-based reflective practice module to gain direct industry experience.
