COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Science (Web and Mobile Technologies) BSc program offers a structured progression from foundational knowledge to advanced specialisation. In the foundation year, students are introduced to core computing concepts, including programming, cybersecurity, applied mathematics, and business information systems. Through key modules such as Introduction to Computing, Applied Maths, and Level 4 Primers, students gain the fundamental knowledge required to succeed in higher-level computing courses. Emphasis is placed on teamwork, problem-solving, and practical activities, with modules like the Mental Wealth group project helping develop soft skills essential in the industry.In the first year of the BSc, students focus on developing core technical competencies in areas such as software development, computer systems and networks, web technologies, and information systems. Modules like Maths for Computing and Information Systems Modelling and Design further deepen analytical and logical thinking, while the IT Project Pitching module enhances students’ ability to communicate technical ideas effectively and work collaboratively.By the second year, the course introduces more complex subjects like database systems, data structures and algorithms, and advanced programming. Practical experience is central to this stage, with a required 70-hour work placement. Students also explore real-world software development and web and mobile app creation. The curriculum strengthens students’ readiness for professional roles by building proficiency in data communications, programming paradigms, and computing in practice.In the final year, students specialise in advanced areas such as network security, artificial intelligence, distributed systems, and mobile applications. Modules like the Final Year Project and Mental Wealth 3 focus on integrating technical expertise with professional competencies, culminating in a substantial individual research or development project. Graduates complete the program with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, prepared for diverse roles in software development, cybersecurity, AI, and beyond.
