COURSE CURRICULUM

The Extended Business Economics program is ideal for students who wish to pursue a degree in business economics but do not meet the standard entry requirements. The foundation year prepares students by developing key academic skills and providing a solid introduction to business principles. Modules such as Developing Academic Literacy and Developing Academic Skills for Business focus on writing, research, and critical thinking, while Inside Business and The Global Business Enterprise introduce students to core business functions and the global commercial environment. Additional modules, including Mental Wealth: Employability in a Changing World and Connecting to Business and Employment through Volunteering, help build confidence and employability through real-world experience and reflection. Upon progressing to the main degree, students in Year 1 explore business law, accounting, economics, marketing, and organisational behaviour, and begin to build their quantitative and analytical skills through the study of statistics and data analysis. In Year 2, the curriculum advances into areas such as intermediate microeconomics and macroeconomics, financial management, sustainable operations, project management, and talent development. A continued focus on employability is maintained through modules like Graduate Employability Competencies. Year 3 offers deeper engagement with advanced topics such as strategy, behavioural economics, and global enterprise, and includes a major research project in economics. Optional modules allow students to tailor their interests in fields such as data analytics, financial technology, corporate responsibility, and international political economy. This comprehensive program combines theoretical learning with practical application, ensuring that students graduate with both subject expertise and transferable skills. The course equips students for a variety of careers in business, finance, consultancy, and public policy by integrating academic study with hands-on experience and personal development. Through every stage, the program supports students in becoming confident, career-ready professionals capable of adapting to the evolving global economy.
