COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Banking and Finance degree begins with a foundation year that prepares students for university-level learning by focusing on academic literacy, business understanding, and employability. Modules such as Developing Academic Skills for Business and Inside Business introduce key academic practices and the structure of business operations. Students also gain valuable experience through volunteering, which helps enhance employability and understanding of real-world business environments. In the first year of the degree, the focus shifts to building core knowledge in economics, accounting, business law, and data analysis. Modules such as Mental Wealth 1 and Business Law help students develop both academic and professional competencies, including legal knowledge relevant to business operations and digital proficiency. In the second year, the program advances into more complex areas including financial management, financial economics, and econometrics, along with a deeper exploration of international finance law and financial institutions. Modules such as Law of International Finance and Introduction to Econometrics equip students with critical analytical skills and an understanding of the legal and strategic dimensions of global finance. The curriculum also continues to prioritize employability through Mental Wealth 2, helping students reflect on and document their professional development. In the final year, students can tailor their learning through optional modules, choosing specializations such as financial derivatives, corporate social responsibility, or FinTech. Practical and research-based modules, such as the Applied Project in Banking and Finance, offer hands-on experience with contemporary financial technologies and issues in digital banking. This capstone year also emphasizes risk management and innovation, equipping students with both strategic insight and technical expertise. Upon graduation, students will be well-prepared for careers in banking, finance, consultancy, or the FinTech sector, having developed a comprehensive set of skills and knowledge across legal, analytical, and technological areas of finance.
