COURSE CURRICULUM

Podiatry at the University of East London is a rigorous and highly practical degree designed to prepare students to become confident, autonomous healthcare professionals. The early exposure to patients, even in simulated settings, ensures that you're prepared for real-world clinical interactions.As you progress into the second year, the course moves deeper into clinical pathology and musculoskeletal podiatry. You’ll learn to assess and manage common foot and lower limb conditions through hands-on training and two NHS placements. This middle stage strengthens your clinical reasoning and diagnostic abilities while introducing research methods and pharmacology. These modules prepare you to apply evidence-based practice in clinical decision-making, which is essential for safe and effective patient care.In the final year, the focus shifts to managing complex patient cases and refining your independence in clinical settings. Through advanced modules such as Complex Patients 1 and 2, and your final placements, you’ll deal with high-risk cases involving systemic diseases like diabetes or rheumatic conditions. You also explore leadership, research governance, and the broader role of podiatrists within multidisciplinary teams.
