COURSE CURRICULUM

In Year 1 of the BSc Economics degree, students build a strong foundation in core economic principles. They will explore essential topics such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, and international economics, enhancing their ability to analyse global markets and decision-making processes. The curriculum includes modules like Fundamentals of Economics, which introduces basic economic concepts and their real-world applications, and Business Statistics and Data Analysis, which deepens students' knowledge of the mathematical and statistical methods used in business. The People and Organisations module provides insights into human behaviour in various organisational contexts, while the Fundamentals of Business Accounting module prepares students for future careers in accounting and finance. Additionally, the Business Law module covers the legal aspects of business operations, and the Mental Wealth 1 module focuses on academic and digital proficiency to ensure students succeed both in their studies and future careers.In Year 2, the program builds on this foundation, introducing intermediate-level topics that provide deeper insights into economics. Modules such as Intermediate Microeconomics and Intermediate Macroeconomics help refine students' understanding of economic theory and its application to real-world decision-making. The Financial Economics module examines the dynamics of capital markets, while the International Economics module expands knowledge of global trade relations. Students also gain practical skills in data analysis through the Introduction to Econometrics module, and the Mental Wealth 2 module focuses on employability, allowing students to build and document key competencies for future job prospects.The final year of the degree offers advanced modules that deepen students' understanding of economics and its applications. The Behavioural Economics module explores non-traditional models and policy implications, while Applied Econometrics with Introduction to Programming focuses on forecasting economic and financial variables. The International Political Economy module examines globalisation and its impact on economic power shifts, and the Corporate Social Responsibility and Ethics module encourages critical thinking about ethical issues in business. Students also complete an Applied Economics Project, where they gain research experience, and a Global Enterprise and Consultancy Practice module that further hones their employability skills, preparing them for success in the professional world.
