COURSE CURRICULUM

In the BSc (Hons) Computing for Business degree, students gain a strong foundation in computing and business principles while developing the technical expertise needed in today’s digital economy. In the first year, students explore key subjects including information systems modelling and design, software development, web technologies, mathematics for computing, and computer networks. These modules introduce students to programming, network architecture, and the development of web applications, while also emphasising the social, ethical, and legal aspects of technology use in business environments. A dedicated module on professional life helps students build core employability skills such as communication, teamwork, and reflective practice. As they progress into the second year, students deepen their knowledge through modules in database systems, cybersecurity, mobile and web application development, and business intelligence. They learn how to manage and analyse business data, implement secure systems, and apply IT solutions strategically within organisations. The final year is focused on specialist business IT topics and culminates in an individual project that demonstrates students’ technical and professional abilities. Modules such as enterprise architecture and cloud computing, business continuity planning, project management, and advanced topics in business computing ensure graduates are equipped with up-to-date knowledge of current technologies and practices. A final mental wealth module integrates students’ academic knowledge with soft skills needed in the workforce, such as leadership, resilience, and critical thinking.
