COURSE CURRICULUM

The Clinical and Community Psychology degree at UEL is designed to provide students with both a strong theoretical foundation and valuable practical experience in psychology. In the first year, students are introduced to the core areas of psychology, including biological, cognitive, social, and developmental psychology, while also developing their research skills. Key modules focus on critical thinking and the application of psychological concepts to real-world settings, helping students build a solid foundation for future study and professional practice. Students also gain early exposure to research methods, with modules focusing on both small and large sample studies.In the second year, the course builds on this foundation by delving deeper into individual differences, psychobiology, and social psychology, while also developing advanced research methods skills. Students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in real-life contexts through modules like Clinical and Community Psychology and Work-Based Learning. This year also focuses on developing employability skills, with students gaining valuable experience through volunteering and work placements in professional settings such as community organizations and the NHS.The final year of the degree emphasizes independent research and offers students the chance to specialize in areas such as addiction, forensic psychology, and health psychology. The core Psychology Research Project allows students to conduct an independent piece of research, while the Clinical and Community Praxis module provides practical experience in evaluation research within community and healthcare settings. With a variety of optional modules, students can tailor their education to their interests, preparing them for a wide range of careers in psychology, community work, and healthcare.
