COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng (Hons) Engineering Management course at the University of East London begins with a foundation year designed to build your confidence and academic skills in mathematics, science, and computing. This year lays a strong groundwork for the degree through modules such as Analytical Mathematics, Physical and Engineering Sciences, and Introduction to Computing. You will also develop key communication and professional skills through the Mental Wealth: Professional Life module, helping you become a reflective, independent learner prepared for an engineering career. As you progress into the degree, you will study core engineering modules covering thermofluids, mechanics, engineering materials, applied mathematics, and computing. Practical skills and real-world relevance are embedded throughout, and you will engage in live projects and industry challenges. In the second year, your knowledge deepens through advanced mathematics, engineering design, interdisciplinary group work, and quality engineering. The Mental Wealth: Engineering Profession modules run through each year of study, helping you continuously build personal and professional capabilities in areas such as teamwork, negotiation, and leadership. In your final year, you will complete a capstone project and study advanced manufacturing, systems integration, and sustainable construction technology. You’ll benefit from strong industry links with companies such as Ford, Crossrail, and Canary Wharf Contractors, with opportunities for work placements and industry visits. A year-long placement is also available to give you direct experience of the engineering sector. Students who excel may have the opportunity to transfer to the MEng pathway, putting them on the route to Chartered Engineer status. Whether your goal is to manage complex projects or lead engineering teams, this course provides the technical knowledge, management skills, and industry exposure needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving profession.
