COURSE CURRICULUM

The Product Design Engineering course is structured across three years to develop well-rounded graduates with strong technical and creative abilities. In the first year, students build a solid foundation in core engineering principles, including thermofluids, mechanics, materials, and applied mathematics. Hands-on learning through lectures, labs, and workshops is central to the curriculum, allowing students to explore manufacturing concepts while developing analytical and problem-solving skills. The Mental Wealth module introduces the professional and social impact of engineering. In the second year, the focus shifts toward real-world application and interdisciplinary collaboration. Students engage in group and live projects, feasibility studies, and stress analysis using software tools. Modules such as Engineering Design and Analysis, Applied Electronics, and Quality Engineering deepen students’ understanding of technical systems and design integration. The Mental Wealth module further strengthens professional skills like communication, teamwork, and project feasibility evaluation. In the final year, students demonstrate their expertise through a Capstone Project that combines independent research with practical investigation. Advanced modules such as Mechatronics System Design and Advanced Manufacturing Technology expand their competencies in high-level design, sustainability, and digital technologies. The final Mental Wealth module aligns professional life practice with the demands of the 4th industrial revolution, promoting ethical innovation and sustainable engineering. Throughout all years, students refine their ability to conceptualise, model, and prototype complex design solutions using 3D CAD, traditional workshop methods, and digital fabrication tools. Design Integration and Design Investigation modules support this progression, preparing students for professional practice or further study. The course ensures graduates are technically competent, industry-aware, and capable of addressing contemporary design and engineering challenges.
