COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng in General Engineering is a comprehensive program that equips students with the technical knowledge, practical experience, and professional skills needed to excel in modern engineering careers. In the first year, students develop a strong foundation through modules in engineering principles, materials, mechanics, thermofluids, applied mathematics, and electromechanical systems. This is complemented by the Mental Wealth module, which fosters awareness of engineering’s societal and environmental impact. The second year builds on this foundation with more advanced topics, including dynamics, control systems, applied mechanics, electronics, water engineering, and surveying. Students also engage in group projects and continue developing their professional identity through portfolio work and industry-relevant soft skills. Year three focuses on specialization and professional practice, incorporating advanced studies in mechanics, manufacturing technology, energy systems, and transport infrastructure. The Capstone project provides an opportunity to apply research and design skills to a specific engineering problem, reflecting the culmination of the knowledge gained throughout the course. Throughout the program, Mental Wealth modules evolve to enhance leadership, ethical awareness, and digital competency in line with the challenges of Industry 4.0. Practical, hands-on experience is emphasized through fieldwork, lab-based modules, and participation in prestigious competitions like the Formula Student and Shell Eco-Marathon. Industry engagement is integral, supported by an advisory board comprising leading firms such as Atkins, WSP, and Morrish. Students graduate with a deep understanding of engineering systems, readiness for a wide range of professional roles, and a strong portfolio of academic and practical achievements.
