COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng (Hons) Engineering Management course at the University of East London combines essential engineering principles with managerial and business acumen to prepare students for leadership roles in engineering sectors. Through strong industry connections with companies such as Ford Motor Company, Crossrail, and Canary Wharf Contractors, students benefit from site visits, work placements, and the option to undertake a year-long industrial placement. From the outset, the course builds foundational knowledge in core areas including engineering materials, thermofluids, mechanics, and applied mathematics. Modules such as Engineering Principles and Mental Wealth: Engineering Profession 1 develop both technical skills and awareness of engineering’s societal and environmental impacts. In the second year, students explore advanced topics such as engineering design and analysis, quality engineering, and group-based interdisciplinary projects. The Mental Wealth: Engineering Profession 2 module deepens professional competencies with a focus on teamwork, feasibility studies, and communication. Students also gain practical experience with design software and engage in competitive national and international projects. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through a capstone project while advancing their expertise in systems integration, advanced manufacturing, and construction innovation. Mental Wealth: Engineering Profession 3 prepares students for the future of industry by focusing on digital environments, ethics, and sustainability. With access to modern laboratories and software tools for simulation and modelling, students are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in a technologically evolving field. High-achieving students have the opportunity to transfer to the MEng pathway, offering a direct route to becoming a Chartered Engineer.
