COURSE CURRICULUM

The Fine Art degree with foundation year is designed for students who are passionate about art but may not meet the standard entry requirements for undergraduate study. The foundation year prepares students by building academic skills, introducing essential art and design practices, and offering opportunities to explore different creative disciplines. Through practical workshops and contextual studies, students develop their portfolios and gain a deeper understanding of the historical and theoretical aspects of art and design. The course encourages personal and professional growth through the Mental Wealth modules, which focus on emotional intelligence, resilience, communication, and career readiness.In the first year of the degree, students are introduced to a wide range of creative practices and encouraged to experiment with materials and methods. Modules such as Practice 1 and Experimentation and Application develop technical skills, while Contextual Studies and Research into Practice help students understand how their work fits into a broader cultural and historical context. By the second year, students begin to take greater ownership of their practice, exploring collaborative projects, advanced techniques, and more complex themes. They are also supported in building a professional profile and engaging with live briefs or commissions.In the final year, students focus on an independent major project that reflects their artistic voice and direction. This includes planning and executing a public exhibition and completing a research component that connects theory with practice. Students can choose between curating a group exhibition or writing an extended research project, depending on their goals. Throughout the course, students benefit from access to London’s vibrant arts scene, including galleries and museums, which enrich their learning experience. The program is structured to support a smooth transition from student to professional, preparing graduates for careers in the creative industries or further academic study.
