The BA Sound and Music for Games and Media is a dynamic and professionally focused degree designed to develop students into skilled, adaptable practitioners ready for careers in the fast-paced media and gaming industries. In the first year, students are introduced to core technical and creative skills through modules like Sound and Music for Media Technique 1 and 2, which focus on composition, production, and sound design for multimedia. Students also engage in collaborative work through projects that simulate real-world creative environments, gaining valuable experience in team-based production. The Public Project module enables them to showcase their work in professional settings, while the Mental Wealth module supports the development of workplace competencies such as emotional resilience, communication, and self-awareness. In the second year, students refine their technical expertise through more advanced modules like Sound and Music for Media Craft 1 and 2. These cover areas such as studio production, mixing, and mastering, and the application of sound and music to games and film. Collaboration becomes more complex, requiring students to manage interdisciplinary projects that involve public engagement and ethical considerations. Leadership skills are further developed through participation in a university-run microbusiness where students take on producer roles. In the final year, students take full ownership of their creative practice. Through Advanced Practice modules and a major Final Project, they research, design, and implement professional-level productions. These projects often involve managing teams, collaborating across disciplines, and delivering public-facing outcomes. Advanced industry skills, entrepreneurship, and innovation are emphasized, ensuring students graduate with the confidence and capability to enter the workforce.
