The photography degree provides a comprehensive and progressive journey through the technical, theoretical, and professional aspects of photographic practice. In the first year, students are introduced to a wide range of foundational skills, including analogue and digital photography, studio and location lighting, and research-led creative development. Through core modules such as Practice 1 and Research into Practice 1, students learn to explore visual ideas, contextualise their work, and engage critically with contemporary and historical photography. The Mental Wealth module supports personal development by focusing on emotional intelligence, teamwork, and career awareness, laying the groundwork for a confident transition into the creative industries. As students move into the second year, the emphasis shifts to experimentation, collaboration, and refining individual photographic styles. They can choose between a written research project or a media-based investigation into global photographic practices, ensuring flexibility in how they contextualise and present their work. Final Mental Wealth and Professional Life modules guide students in career planning, entrepreneurship, or further study.
