COURSE CURRICULUM

The revised BA Criminology and Psychology course offers a comprehensive and contemporary curriculum that explores the psychological and societal dimensions of crime. In Year 1, students build foundational knowledge while engaging with critical issues like cybercrime, race, youth policy, and justice. Core modules such as Introduction to Crime and Punishment, Developing Skills for Justice, and Introduction to Cognitive and Developmental Psychology equip students with theoretical and practical insights. Year 2 delves deeper into criminological theory and forensic psychology, while also enhancing research capabilities and promoting teamwork through project-based learning. Modules such as Theoretical Criminology, Introduction to Forensic Psychology, and Crime Policy into Practice help students critically evaluate the intersection of policy, media, and justice. Year 3 emphasizes independent research, applied knowledge, and employability. The Project in Criminology and Psychology, along with modules like Psychological Criminology and Leadership Skills for Justice, prepare students for careers in psychology, justice, and related fields. A range of optional modules across all three years—such as Cybercrime, Race and Justice, Mental Health in the Criminal System, Youth Crime, and Cyberpsychology—allow students to tailor their studies to specific interests.
