COURSE CURRICULUM

The Game Development degree spans three years, gradually immersing students into the creative, technical, and professional aspects of the industry. In Year 1, students explore the core pillars of game design, programming, and art, gaining a solid foundation through hands-on modules such as Introduction to Game Design, Game Art, and Game Programming. They also begin learning C++ and apply mathematical and physics concepts relevant to games. Additional modules like 3D Modelling and Texture Creation further develop artistic skills, while Game Studio 1 simulates real studio environments, emphasizing teamwork and project management. In Year 2, students begin to specialize, diving into roles such as character and environment artist while refining their technical and creative skills. Modules like Environment Creation and Character Creation allow deeper exploration of 3D asset production, while Art Theory and Professional Practice build cultural awareness and professional readiness. Game Studio 2 challenges students with medium-scale projects and introduces them to publishing processes. Portfolio 1 enables them to begin curating a body of work aligned with their career goals. In Year 3, students synthesize their learning through advanced modules like Technical 3D Art and a capstone Game Studio 3 project. They work on large-scale, multidisciplinary games from pitch to publication, applying industry-standard practices and tools. Portfolio 2 and the Final Project allow students to showcase their abilities in a chosen specialism, with opportunities to produce high-quality assets or conduct academic research through practical or written work. By graduation, students will have real-world project experience, a professional-grade portfolio, and the soft skills necessary for working in teams, making them well-prepared for careers in game design, art, programming, or related creative industries. The course is structured to nurture both individual talent and collaborative capability, matching the needs of the evolving games industry.
