COURSE CURRICULUM

In Term One, the Experimental Studio unit encourages you to push the boundaries of your practice by exploring new methods, processes, and ideas that take you outside of your comfort zone. This approach is aimed at fostering advanced and evolving contributions to your creative work. The Research Contexts unit introduces you to critical research methodologies, allowing you to incorporate research-driven exploration into your independent practice, helping you to better understand the design, construction, and expression of art as a process.Term Two focuses on the development of your artistic style and approach through the Studio Practice unit. You’ll refine your practice by aligning it with contemporary art theories and themes, examining how they inform and shape the work you wish to create at a postgraduate level. The Professional Contexts unit offers opportunities to engage with external professional environments, either through partnerships or individual projects. This unit helps you establish your position in relation to your artistic subjects, interests, and practice, while also providing an opportunity to explore starting a creative business or collaborating on a practice project.In Term Three, the Major Project allows you to undertake a sustained, in-depth, and critically informed research inquiry, culminating in a substantial body of work. This unit enables you to define your artistic practice and understand its place within industries, professional contexts, and among collaborators, readers, and audiences, marking the final phase of your postgraduate studies.
