COURSE CURRICULUM

In Term One, the Experimental Studio unit encourages you to push beyond your comfort zone, fostering an experimental approach to your studio or post-studio practices. You’ll be challenged to explore new methods, processes, and ideas to evolve and advance your creative contributions. The Research Contexts unit introduces critical research methodologies, allowing you to apply these approaches to your independent inquiries and further develop your practice through research-driven exploration.In Term Two, the Studio Practice unit allows you to refine your styles and approaches at a postgraduate level, aligning your creative aims with contemporary art theories and themes. You will explore how theory can inform and shape the work you wish to create. The Professional Contexts unit focuses on your professional development, offering opportunities and projects with partner organizations. Through group work and individual research, you’ll develop a strong sense of your position in relation to your identified subjects, interests, and practice areas. You’ll also have the chance to explore creating a creative business or collaborative practice project.Term Three culminates with the Major Project, where you will undertake a sustained, in-depth, and critically informed research inquiry. This final unit allows you to define your practice through a significant body of work, considering how it interacts with others, industries, collaborators, and audiences. This is the final opportunity to showcase your growth and establish your place within the art world, solidifying your artistic identity and professional trajectory.
