COURSE CURRICULUM

In Term One, Textiles Practice 1 encourages students to redefine their concepts in a creative context, exploring textile applications across fashion, interiors, and other industries. This unit supports the development of innovative textile and material investigations, experimental work, and prototypes backed by thorough research. Critical Thinking for Creative Practice introduces students to the historical and contemporary debates that influence their work, expanding their understanding of ethical frameworks and social and cultural perspectives in fashion and textiles. Term Two builds on the foundations laid in the first term with Textiles Practice 2, which explores expanded textile concepts for various sectors, including fashion, the body, and interior design. Students delve deeper into their practice, focusing on the development of a specific body of work that aligns with industry standards, with the opportunity to collaborate with an external creative partner. The Collaborative Professional Practice unit introduces students to markets, industry connections, and professional development, enabling them to undertake a two-stage project that covers both planning and implementation.In Term Three, the Major Project unit serves as the culmination of the course. Students are required to produce a significant body of work that synthesizes their creative ideas, research methodologies, technical expertise, and understanding of professional contexts. The final project should be executed to a high standard, demonstrating the student’s readiness to make an impact in the professional world.
