COURSE CURRICULUM

In Term One, the focus is on establishing your photographic practice and developing advanced research skills. In the "Establishing Practice" unit, you will explore contemporary photography techniques and issues, learning to critically assess and apply relevant research to your work. "Research Contexts" introduces critical research methodologies, guiding you to approach photography as a process of research and exploration in your independent practice.Term Two encourages expansion and growth. "Expanding Photographies" invites you to think of photography as an evolving tool for experimentation. This unit emphasizes photography as an expanded field, incorporating both analogue and digital spaces, while exploring theoretical and conceptual ideas. "Professional Contexts" focuses on your professional development, offering opportunities to work with partner organizations. Through collaborative and individual projects, you'll develop a creative business plan, funding application, or pitch, helping to establish your role in the broader professional world.In Term Three, you will focus on your "Major Project." This final unit requires you to conduct a sustained and critically informed research inquiry, producing a substantial body of work that defines your photographic practice. You’ll also demonstrate a clear understanding of how your work relates to contemporary photographic trends and practices. This project serves as the culmination of your studies, showcasing your ability to synthesize your learning into a distinctive and cohesive artistic statement.
