COURSE CURRICULUM

In Term One, the course begins with the Exploratory Practice unit, where you'll develop your practice as a means of inquiry, investigating the potential of skills, techniques, and ideas to critically examine your approach to design. The Research Contexts unit introduces you to critical research methodologies, allowing you to apply them in your independent research enquiries, providing a foundation for understanding the design and expression of your practice as a process of inquiry.Term Two focuses on Reflective Practice, encouraging rigorous self-critique and the development of more independent practice. Here, you will dive deeper into your research and practice, ultimately constructing a specific Major Project proposal. You'll also consider how to present your work to an audience and document your process in preparation for professional realisation. In the Professional Contexts unit, you'll engage with professional opportunities and projects developed in collaboration with partner organizations. This unit helps you establish your position in relation to your practice area, offering the chance to create a business plan, funding application, or pitch for professional audiences.In Term Three, the course culminates in the Major Project, where you will undertake a sustained, in-depth research inquiry. You'll define your practice through your own work, reflecting on how it fits within relevant industries, professional contexts, and audiences. The project will result in a substantial body of work, showcasing the knowledge and skills you’ve developed throughout your studies, and preparing you for your future career in design.
