COURSE CURRICULUM

In Term One, the focus is on foundational development through key units. Launch Week is an essential cross-school event that brings together postgraduate students across all disciplines within the School of Fashion and Textiles. It helps foster an international, dynamic, and cross-functional community. The unit Exploring Creative Practice encourages experimentation with different approaches to making and constructing work, allowing you to begin defining your creative process. This unit emphasizes tests, experiments, and reflection, culminating in a visual summary of what you’ve learned about yourself and your primary medium(s). Additionally, Critical Thinking for Creative Practice introduces you to historical and contemporary debates in creative practices, expanding your knowledge of ethical frameworks, and social and cultural approaches within fashion and textiles.Term Two offers more focus on refining your work. Opportunity Week is a cross-school event where postgraduate students formally present their work in progress and major project proposals. This unit fosters a supportive community through feedback and helps you identify potential collaborations. Refining Creative Practice helps you reflect on your previous experiments and refine your creative direction. The unit concludes with an interim exhibition that you will help plan, fund, curate, and promote, offering hands-on experience in managing an exhibition. Collaborative Professional Practice introduces industry connections and contexts, allowing you to engage in a two-stage collaborative professional project that includes both planning and implementation stages.Term Three centers on your Major Project, which marks the culmination of your studies. This is your opportunity to showcase your research, creative exploration, technical expertise, and professional contexts. You will produce a significant body of work, demonstrating new insights and methodologies developed throughout your postgraduate journey.
