COURSE CURRICULUM

In Term one, the unit Exploratory Practice focuses on the development of individual practice as a means of inquiry. You will experiment with different skills, techniques, ideas, and themes to critically analyze and interrogate your approach to your practice. This term also includes the unit Research Contexts, where you will be introduced to critical research methodologies that will guide your independent research inquiries. This will help you understand the design, construction, and expression of your practice as a research process.In Term two, the unit Reflective Practice encourages self-critique and the progression of independent practice. You will delve deeper into your research and practice to develop your specific Major Project proposal. This unit also encourages you to think about modes of display, audience engagement, and the documentation of your work in preparation for the professional realization of your ideas. The unit Professional Contexts focuses on your professional development, where you’ll engage in opportunities and projects with partner organizations. This unit also allows you to create a creative business plan, funding application, or pitch to professional audiences, helping you define your position within the broader industry.Term three centers around the Major Project, which is the culmination of your studies. You will engage in a sustained, in-depth research inquiry to define your practice through your own work and understanding of how it relates to others, including industries, collaborators, and audiences. This project will result in a substantial body of work that demonstrates your skills and critical engagement with your practice.
