Year One begins with a Guest Speakers’ Series where you'll join students from across the School of Fashion & Textiles. Here, you'll hear from industry professionals with diverse backgrounds and career paths to inspire your own journey. The Creative Publication unit focuses on makeup and hair professionals, exploring the history, textures, and relevance of their work. You will create imagery for a publication, learning from iconic figures in the industry. Equality Diversity and Inclusion - Creative Identities encourages self-exploration and reflection, allowing you to explore your identity and family history through creative work.In the Body Paint and Airbrushing for Fashion unit, you'll design and apply body art, creating fashion garments painted directly on the body. During Hackathon, you'll collaborate on a high-intensity project, using new software or equipment to create digital content such as websites or virtual garments. Cultural Narratives asks you to engage with global cultural awareness, using makeup and hair design to create beauty editorials. In Professional Practice, you will build your first portfolio, reflecting on your skills as a makeup artist and hair designer, while also gaining insights into the business of fashion.Year Two kicks off with Career Week, preparing you for your work placement by developing your CV, interview skills, and personal branding. The Innovative Motion unit challenges you to explore how beauty and fashion collaborate with performance and film, broadening your creative expression. Reflective Practitioner encourages global exploration through fashion, cinema, and cultural movements. Dragon's Den allows you to pitch a business idea, while Expressing Identity helps you define your creative path. Placement gives you real-world industry experience, and you’ll curate your Year 2 digital portfolio.For your final year, you begin with Project Pitch, presenting your ideas for feedback. In Creative Partners, you work with a client on a research question that aligns with your skills and interests. Critical Thinking Through Fashion helps you refine your argument and communicate it creatively. The Graduate Career Fair offers networking opportunities as you prepare for post-graduation life. Finally, Your Artistic Practice culminates in a substantial project showcasing your specialized skills, supported by a research document and a career development plan for your future.
