COURSE CURRICULUM

In Year 1, you'll begin with Launch Week, which includes interdisciplinary activities, such as an Industry Guest Speakers’ Series. The focus will be on building your foundational skills in visual design, including traditional and digital techniques, life drawing, and mark-making. You'll explore equality, diversity, and inclusion in creative practice and participate in Design Sprints, where you'll work in teams to develop an Art Bible for an entertainment design project. Narrative development and sequential art will be another key area of focus, where you'll learn storytelling methods and maintain a sketchbook for creative development. In Year 2, you'll further develop your skills through advanced workflows, techniques, and character/world-building. This will be combined with the opportunity to explore global influences on creative practice and develop your professional identity through industry briefs and the creation of promotional resources. Additionally, you'll choose elective units, including options such as Immersive Media and Digital Storytelling. The year also includes ATOM activities and PLE Digital Outcomes, helping you build a professional digital presence. Year 3 focuses on preparing you for industry with your Final Major Project. You'll begin with pre-production and critical and conceptual influences, creating a significant body of work that demonstrates your skills and aspirations. This culminates in the production of your graduate portfolio. Professional practice units will help you create promotional resources, refining your personal brand and preparing you for your future career. Opportunities for broader engagement, such as Games Jams and Design Sprints, will continue throughout the year, helping to strengthen your connection with the industry and expand your professional network.
